ÉCLAT
Éclat is a modern French pâtisserie imagined as the it-girl café of the neighborhood — the place you stop for a morning pastry, coffee in hand, outfit immaculate. The brand reinterprets traditional pâtisserie through a contemporary, fashion-forward lens, where beautiful food meets beautiful design.
This project explores how a pâtisserie brand can feel elevated yet approachable, chic without being try-hard. From packaging to signage, Éclat is designed to be instantly recognizable, effortlessly cool, and irresistibly shareable.
MY APPROACH
I began by translating the brief’s emotional cues of chic, effortless, modern, and covetable into a clear visual direction. Rather than relying on traditional French motifs, I positioned Éclat closer to the world of editorial design.
The identity balances softness and confidence through refined typography, playful details, and clean layouts influenced by the soft, flaky textures of baked goods. The sleek character of the typeface used, Norman, adds subtle elegance to the brand while remaining accessible and uncomplicated. The colour palette creates a chic, understated, yet on-trend look through the use of pastels and off-tones. Packaging was designed to feel distinctive and naturally Instagrammable without becoming gimmicky, encouraging customers to want to carry and photograph it.
A key element of the identity is a custom shape that translates the meaning of the name Éclat, a brilliant display or striking effect, into a refined visual form. Rather than depicting a literal beam or sparkle, the shape was simplified and softened to become more symbolic. Designed to convey impact with quiet confidence, it functions as a flexible brand device across packaging and applications, creating a cohesive and instantly identifiable system.
MY ROLE
This was a self-initiated mock project completed in response to a creative brief. I was responsible for the full visual direction, including concept development, brand identity, and application across key touchpoints such as packaging and café signage. My goal was to create a visual identity that feels chic, modern, and covetable, balanced by a human touch that reflects the handmade nature of baked goods. Softness and quiet confidence were central to the design, ensuring the brand feels elevated yet approachable.
